Damascus, Syria condemned attempts to seize financial assets of the Russian Federation in a flagrant violation of the basic principles and norms of international law. 'Syria draws attention to the fact that this reckless behavior of Western countries in their attempts to seize the sovereign assets of independent countries will lead to devastating consequences for the global financial system,' Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement Tuesday. The ministry added that taking such measures means that Western countries are finally abandoning respect for property rights and the principle of state immunity.
