'The Syrian Arab Republic condemns the failed coup attempt carried out by some military units of the Bolivian army as well as those behind it, which took place in La Paz on June 26, targeting the elected government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia headed by President Luis Arce Catacora', Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement on Friday. The Foreign Ministry added that Syria stresses the need to respect Bolivia's legitimate constitutional order, maintain democratic and institutional stability and the rule of law, and prevent foreign interference in the internal affairs of this friendly country. The Ministry affirmed that the Syrian Arab Republic expresses its support and stand with the legitimate Bolivian government headed by President Luis Arce, democratically elected by the friendly Bolivian people, and calls once again on the arrogant countries and powers to respect the freedom of the peoples of Latin America, including the people of Bolivia, by preserving their legitimate elected institutions.
