The First meeting of Asian Parliamentary Assembly's Palestine committee (APA) kicked off with Syrian participation in the Iranian capital, Tehran. 'The criminal act is a habit by Israel, which has continued, since the ill-fated Balfour Declaration until now, to commit atrocities in full view of the international community, which refuses to take action to stop these serious violations' Speaker of the People's Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, said in a speech during the meeting. Sabbagh called for 'finding unified and effective position to confront this Israeli persistence and the blatant violation of the standards of human rights and international legitimacy resolutions, in addition to demanding the parliaments worldwide to condemn these massacres committed against our people in Gaza, and to put pressure on the government of the Zionist entity for an immediate and permanent ceasefire throughout Palestine in general, and in Gaza in particular. He demanded stopping the campaigns of displacement and ethnic cleansi ng of the Palestinian population, working to lift the siege and allowing the entry of relief crews along with food and medical materials. Speaker Sabbagh also called for working relentlessly to end the Israeli occupation of Arab and Palestinian lands and guarantee the legitimate rights of the Palestinian Arab people, first and foremost the right of return and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
