Aleppo: The Syrian Army on Saturday announced the completion of clearing operations in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo and the establishment of full control over it, confirming that the city is now free of any presence of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement, the army reported that its units confiscated heavy and medium weapons used by the SDF, seized large quantities of ammunition, light weapons, and explosive devices, and arrested a number of its members, while a large number surrendered themselves and their weapons.
The statement called on civilians to remain in their homes and to contact the forces deployed in the neighborhood to report any emergencies.
In a related context, a Syrian military source announced that the forces dismantled dozens of mines to facilitate the entry of internal security forces immediately after the completion of the clearing operations.
It is worth noting that the SDF launched attacks from areas in the Ashrafiya and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods on residential neighborhoods, civilian facilities, and army and security points last Tuesday, resulting in 9 deaths, 55 injuries, and the displacement of 165,000 people from the two neighborhoods, according to the latest official figures announced.
