Doha: Syrian President Ahmad al Sharaa received a verbal message from Jordan's King Abdullah II on Wednesday, focused on strengthening bilateral ties and ways to support cooperation between the two countries. The message was delivered by Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi during his official visit to Damascus, where he was received by President al Sharaa.
According to Qatar News Agency, earlier, Safadi held extensive talks with his Syrian counterpart, Asaad Al Shibani, during which they reviewed the outcomes of the February summit between the Jordanian King and the Syrian President held in Amman. In the spirit of continued dialogue and coordination, both foreign ministers emphasized the importance of activating cooperation across all sectors and agreed on implementing practical mechanisms to elevate joint efforts to optimal levels.
Following the meeting, a joint statement announced the formation of a Higher Coordination Council comprising representatives from a wide range of sectors including energy, health, industry, trade, transport, agriculture, water, ICT, education, and tourism. The Council is expected to hold its first meeting in the coming weeks.
