Doha: HE Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management of the Syrian Arab Republic Raed Al Saleh stated that, under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar plays a pivotal role in supporting regional and international security and stability.
According to Qatar News Agency, in exclusive remarks on the sidelines of the Global Security Forum (GSF) 2025 in Doha, Al Saleh praised Qatar's significant contribution to resolving global disputes through peaceful means. He highlighted Qatar's involvement in peace negotiations between the Taliban and the US, mediating between Israel and Hamas concerning the Gaza Strip, participating in peace talks among African nations, and bridging differences in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Al Saleh emphasized that Qatar's hosting of the GSF 2025 serves as a crucial platform for fostering constructive dialogue among decision-makers, officials, and experts worldwide. The forum aims to support global security and stability by promoting dialogue and exchanging ideas on achieving peace and sustainable development.
He also discussed Syria's Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management's participation in the forum, detailing its experience in disaster and emergency response. Al Saleh stressed the importance of civil society organizations in providing rapid aid to affected communities and the need for partnerships to ensure effective humanitarian assistance.
Regarding bilateral relations, Al Saleh confirmed that Syria and Qatar share strong ties based on fraternity, solidarity, and strategic cooperation. He noted that future collaborations in emergency and disaster management are expected to expand, following discussions with Qatari officials during his visit to Doha.
Al Saleh concluded by acknowledging Qatar's unwavering support for Syria, highlighting its initiatives that exceed expectations and cooperation with Saudi Arabia in addressing humanitarian issues and settling Syria's financial obligations to the World Bank Group. He expressed confidence that Qatar will continue to support the Syrian people in their pursuit of reconstruction and development.
