Amman - Qatar’s age-group table tennis teams did the nation proud as they won five gold and a silver in the 2022 West Asian Championship in Amman, Jordan, on Sunday.
Mohammed Al Sulaiti did the star turn for Qatar, winning the singles and doubles gold in the boys’ under-13 category. The youngster was engaged in a marathon final against Ali Al Hawai of the United Arab Emirates, before emerging 3-2 winner.
Earlier, he combined with Youssef Abdullah to emerge on top in the doubles final.
Qatar’s Sultan Al Kuwari was crowned the boys under-15 singles champion while in the under-19 section, Ahmed Jabbar and Abdullah Abdul Wahab claimed the doubles title.
There was further title joy for Qatar in the boys’ U-17 doubles, where Khaled Al Yafei and Youssef Ali emerged on top.
Maryam Ali was Qatar’s lone medallist in the girls’ section, winning the silver in the U-17 event.
