Doha: The tests for citizens' children began Saturday in the 30th Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Qur'an competition. It is organized by the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry stated that the number of registered contenders reached 925 from both genders, with 501 males and 424 females participating. The competition requires participants to memorize one part from the last five sections of the Holy Qur'an. Tests for males are scheduled from 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque.
The ministry further explained that the tests are held under the supervision of a knowledgeable jury committee, led by specialized Qatari youth. Meanwhile, tests for females are set to occur at the Women's Activity Center in Al Wa'ab at 7:15 p.m., starting today and continuing tomorrow. These sessions are overseen by a jury committee made up of skilled female judges with expertise in Qur'anic memorization.
The competition serves as an important opportunity to encourage both boys and girls to memorize and properly recite the Holy Qur'an, thereby contributing to the instillation of Islamic principles in their hearts.
