HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today in Washington with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The meeting dealt with reviewing bilateral cooperation and regional developments, particularly in Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, and Palestine.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that the only way to reach a political resolution in Afghanistan is by launching a comprehensive meeting that includes all Afghan leaders. His Excellency reiterated the State of Qatar's commitment to enhance dialogue in Afghanistan.
He expressed the State of Qatar optimism regarding the prospect of having the Afghan parties reach a political resolution that achieves security and stability in Afghanistan.
His Excellency stressed that the State of Qatar and the international community look forward to seeing Afghanistan a stable and prosperous country with a united government that includes all political parties, protects human rights in general, and women's rights in particular, and not become a place for harboring terrorist organizations.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for an open and transparent dialogue between GCC countries and Iran, to achieve stability in the region.
He expressed the State of Qatar's hope of a political resolution to the Syrian crisis that is acceptable for the Syrian people.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar's position on the fairness of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate right of the Palestinian people in establishing an independent state based on the borders of 1967, with East Al Quds as its capital.
