Doha: At least three people were injured in a shooting incident in the US state of Oklahoma.

According to Qatar News Agency, the state police said in a statement that three people were shot inside a student residence hall at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Police noted that the shooting occurred when a number of people arrived at the residence hall after attending an off-campus party.

The injured, one of whom is a university student, are receiving treatment at city hospitals, the statement added.

The university is located in Stillwater, about 80 kilometers northeast of Oklahoma City.

The United States experiences frequent shooting incidents for various reasons, and the issue of gun control remains one of the most controversial issues.
