Doha: The Police Academy's Security Research and Studies Center discussed the role of tourism safety and security to enhance tourism industry achievements in the State of Qatar. This came in a symposium on the achievements and challenges of tourism security in the State of Qatar, held in cooperation with the MoI's Preventive Security Department. The symposium aimed to identify the programs, plans and awareness campaigns that contribute to enhancing tourism security and identifying the key challenges facing it. HE Director of Public Security, Maj. Gen. Abdullah Mohammed Al Suwaidi attended the symposium along with a number of MoI officials and representatives of tourist institutions. Director of the MoI's Preventive Security Department Brigadier General Majid Sharida Al Rumaihi stressed the significance of security for the development and growth of tourism industry in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The MoI's Preventive Security Department, in cooperation with other security departments, has take n steps to embody a sense of security and reassurance for visitors and residents of the State of Qatar, by securing tourist sites and their presence to achieve tourist security, he added. Director of the Security Research and Studies Center, Lt. Colonel Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al Khamis Al Obaidly, said the symposium was part of continuous cooperation and coordination between the Security Research and Studies Center and the MoI's various departments. He added that this cooperation aims to achieve the highest levels of institutional integration, and helps achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030 in light of the countrys unique tourism potential and enormous diversity of tourism industry.
