Trump Hints at Imminent Land Operations Against Drug Traffickers in Venezuela

Washington: US President Donald Trump hinted that the United States is preparing to shift its crackdown on suspected Venezuelan drug traffickers to land operations, telling service members during a video call that efforts to stop drug smuggling by land would begin "very soon."

According to Qatar News Agency, Trump addressed service members, highlighting recent efforts to deter Venezuelan drug traffickers, noting a decrease in sea-based smuggling. He mentioned, "In recent weeks, you've been working to deter Venezuelan drug traffickers, of which there are many. Of course, there aren't too many coming in by sea anymore."

Trump further elaborated on the shift to land-based operations, stating, "You probably noticed that people aren't wanting to deliver by sea anymore, and we'll be starting to stop them by land also. The land is easier, but that's going to start very soon." He issued a warning to those involved in drug trafficking, saying, "We warn them: Stop sending poison to our country."

In a different context, Trump informed members of the US military about his administration's request for additional B-2 Spirit stealth bombers, manufactured by Northrop Grumman. This request follows the use of such aircraft in US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites earlier this year.
