During a phone conversation, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz the latest developments in Russia and Sweden's bid to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The Turkish Communications Directorate issued a statement on Wednesday stating that the two sides addressed bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues, stressing the necessity of increasing cooperation in these fields.
President Erdogan told Chancellor Scholz that Sweden is taking steps in the right direction, citing Sweden's recent amendments to its anti-terrorism law, however he added that Ankara finds it unacceptable that YPG/PYD/PKK supporters in Sweden continue to recruit people and provide financial support to terrorist groups.
