Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday renewed his call for the necessity of holding Israeli officials involved in the "brutal" aggression on the Gaza Strip accountable, similar to what happened in Srebrenica in Bosnia, stressing that they will be held accountable sooner or later before international law. In a speech commemorating the 29th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, Erdogan stated that the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories are experiencing brutality similar to that witnessed in Srebrenica 29 years ago. He criticized international institutions and organizations for their passive stance, noting that they are merely watching as more than 38,000 innocent people, including 16,000 children, are killed; reminiscent of the Bosnian Muslims genocide. Erdogan asserted that the perpetrators of the brutality in Gaza will face justice under international law, just as those responsible for Srebrenica were held accountable. He stressed that Turkey will continue to exert its utmost efforts to ensure justice and accountability for these massacres. On May 24, the International Court of Justice called on the Israeli occupation to immediately halt its military attack on Rafah, highlighting the significantly deteriorated humanitarian situation in southern Gaza and urging the opening of land crossings for humanitarian aid.
