UAE Condemns Targeting of ADNOC Tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Doha: The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned an Iranian attack on a national tanker operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), which was targeted by two drones while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to Qatar News Agency, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Monday, describing the attack as a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817. This resolution emphasizes freedom of navigation and opposes the targeting of commercial vessels or the disruption of international maritime routes.

The Ministry highlighted that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for economic pressure or blackmail is comparable to piracy by Iran's Revolutionary Guard. This action poses a threat to regional stability and global energy security.

The UAE urged Iran to halt such attacks, adhere to the cessation of hostile acts, and ensure the complete reopening of the Strait. This would support regional security and the stability of global trade and the global economy.
