The British press reported that the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) Keir Starmer will initiate negotiates with the European Union (EU) for new bilateral relations. British daily newspaper, the Daily Mail, cited European sources as saying that Starmer seeks to ease restrictions on freedom of movement and trade flows between the United Kingdom and the Union. They added that he does not oppose signing onto some European rules in exchange for achieving his objectives. The newspaper pointed out that the Prime Minister will leverage a British-European summit later this month to restart negotiations with the EU. In the Labor Party's election campaign, Starmer pledged to negotiate a better trade agreement with the European bloc instead of the one negotiated by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government in 2020. Johnson had warned the new government against the risks of reversing Britain's withdrawal from the European Union (Brexit). Source: Qatar News Agency
