Ukraine Downs 220 Russian Drones

Kyiv: The Ukrainian Air Force announced that air defense systems had shot down 220 out of 227 drones launched by Russian forces during a large-scale daytime attack on Ukraine, while separate Russian strikes caused injuries and damage in several regions.

According to Qatar News Agency, the attack drones were launched from multiple locations within Russia and the Crimean Peninsula. The response involved fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups.

The agency added that most of the drones were either shot down or jammed across various regions, with direct hits recorded from seven drones at six locations and debris falling at five other sites. It noted that the attack was still ongoing, with some drones remaining in the air.

In the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the regional governor said that Russian forces carried out more than 50 attacks during the day using drones, artillery, and aerial bombs, injuring three people and causing fires and damage to residential buildings, facilities, and vehicles in several areas, including Nikopol and nearby settlements.

In the city of Kherson, four people were injured in a Russian drone attack targeting a shop in the Dniprovskyi district. They sustained injuries from the blast and shrapnel and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
