Ukraine Reports Drone Destruction Amid Ongoing Russian Airstrikes

Kyiv: The Ukrainian Air Force announced Saturday that its defense systems successfully destroyed 100 drones out of 179 launched by Russia in an overnight aerial attack on the country.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Air Force noted that 63 additional drones lost their positions, which typically indicates the impact of electronic jamming. Media reports highlighted damage in the regions of Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Sumy, as well as the capital, Kyiv, due to the attacks.

Later, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office reported that at least two people were killed and four others injured in new Russian airstrikes on the Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine. In Kyiv, authorities issued air raid warnings, with Mayor Vitali Klitschko urging residents to seek shelter. He noted that debris from a flying object struck a building in the capital, causing a fire.

Since the war began in February 2022, Russia and Ukraine have exchanged near-daily reports claiming to have countered each other's attacks, often without independent verification.
