The Ukrainian Air Force announced Wednesday that it shot down 22 out of 27 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that were targeting various locations in the country. The Ukrainian National News Agency (Ukrinform) quoted Ukraine's Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk as saying that Russia launched an air attack Tuesday night, using 27 UAVs from the Russian regions of Kursk and Cape Chauda in the Crimean Peninsula. Oleschuk affirmed that anti-aircraft missile units and electronic warfare (EW) units of the Air Force and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense were able to shoot down 22 UAVs in the Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, and Poltava regions. Over recent months, the Russian-Ukrainian confrontations witnessed new field developments, with both sides avoiding direct confrontations in exchange for using UAVs and missiles to conduct precise strikes on military targets.
