UN Confirms Over 130,000 Palestinians Displaced in Northern Gaza Amid Ongoing Military Operations.

Gaza City: Over 130,000 Palestinians have been displaced in northern Gaza due to ongoing military operations, according to Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). The displacement has taken place over the past seven weeks, significantly impacting the civilian population in the region. According to Qatar News Agency, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has issued a warning regarding the severe risks faced by Palestinians, particularly civilians in northern Gaza, as they endure the Israeli blockade. The continued hostilities are exacerbating the humanitarian crisis, with a critical shortage of adequate shelter reported for the displaced population. Only a small fraction of shelter needs have been met, leaving nearly a million individuals vulnerable to harsh winter conditions. Approximately 545,000 people are residing in damaged buildings or temporary shelters, underscoring the urgent necessi ty for the immediate delivery of blankets and other essential aid to the area. The World Food Programme (WFP) has also expressed concern over the escalating hunger crisis in Gaza. The cost of basic food items has surged dramatically, exceeding pre-conflict levels by over 1,000 percent. This inflation is compounding the already dire living conditions for the affected population. In the West Bank, OCHA has reported a deterioration in conditions for Palestinians. Israeli forces are reportedly employing increasingly lethal tactics that appear to surpass standard law enforcement measures, further complicating the humanitarian situation in the region.
