UN Expresses Concern Over Gaza Crisis Amid Renewed Israeli Aggression

Doha: Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric stated Wednesday that the resumption of Israeli aggression on Gaza has led to the displacement of 142,000 individuals within a week, raising alarms over dwindling humanitarian aid supplies. Dujarric warned that the number of displaced people is likely to rise, noting that 19 percent of Gaza’s residents had already been displaced at least once between October 7, 2023, and the start of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in January.

According to Qatar News Agency, he highlighted the shrinking safe spaces available for families, revealing that 17 percent of Gaza’s territory is under evacuation orders issued by Israeli authorities. He also pointed out severe warnings from UN humanitarian partners about critically low supplies of medical stocks, cooking gas, and fuel essential for bakeries and ambulances.

Israel resumed its aggression on Gaza on March 18 after a two-month ceasefire, initially effective on January 19. However, the ceasefire terms were repeatedly violated by Israel, which continued bombings, caused casualties, refused to adhere to humanitarian protocols, and intensified its blockade, deepening an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
