Geneva, More than 10,000 civilians, including more than 560 children, have been killed, and more than 18,500 injured in Ukraine since Russia launched its military operation there, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has confirmed.

The actual death toll is likely to be "significantly higher" than 10,000 as verification work is ongoing.

"Ten thousand civilian deaths is a grim milestone for Ukraine," Head of UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Danielle Bell said.
