UN Secretary-General: Priority Must be to Ease Tremendous Suffering in Gaza

Doha: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has welcomed the Gaza ceasefire deal. Guterres acknowledged on the X platform the efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the US for their mediation that led to the agreement. He urged all parties involved to uphold their commitments and ensure the full implementation of the deal.

According to Qatar News Agency, Guterres has consistently advocated for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional release of all hostages since the onset of the violence. He emphasized that the primary focus must be on alleviating the significant suffering caused by the conflict. He called on all parties to facilitate rapid, unhindered, and safe humanitarian relief for civilians in need.

Guterres also affirmed the UN's commitment to doing everything possible to address the humanitarian challenges, acknowledging the serious obstacles that lie ahead.
