Under the patronage of President Bashar al-Assad, the interior Ministry marked the 78th anniversary of the Internal Security Forces Day which commemorates the parliament’s guards and security members who were martyred by the French occupation in May 29th of 1945.
In a speech delivered during a ceremony organized at the Interior Ministry building, Interior Minister Mohammad Khaled al-Rahmoun conveyed the congratulations, love and appreciation of President al-Assad to the officers and members of the Internal Security Forces on this occasion.
The minister highlighted epic of heroism of the guards of the parliament building who refused to obey the orders of the French colonialists to salute the French flag, and martyred defending their national stance.
On this occasion, The Minister along with senior police officers visited the shrine of the martyrs in the Al-Dahdah cemetery in Damascus.
The Minister also visited the Martyrs’ Hall at the People’s Assembly where they met the Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudeh Sabbagh, with Sabbagh hailing the heroism of members of the internal security forces alongside the Syrian Arab Army who sacrificed their lives and achieved Syria’s triumph against terrorism.
