Gaza - Ma'an - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that the smell of blood permeates the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, after the Al-Mawasi massacre committed by the occupation army, amid the failure of ventilation systems due to the lack of electricity and fuel. This was stated by Scott Anderson, Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator and Deputy Director of UNRWA Affairs in Gaza, in a statement, after a visit he made to the Nasser Medical Complex. He added: "During my visit to the Nasser complex, I witnessed some of the most horrific scenes I have seen during the nine months I spent in the Strip." Describing the situation as an 'overworked' medical complex, Anderson said: 'The complex has received more than 100 serious cases and patients are being treated on the floor, without disinfectants.' He pointed out that "the smell of blood permeates the complex, while the ventilation systems are out of order due to the lack of electricity and fuel." Commenting on the horror of what he saw there, the UN official said, 'I saw small children with amputated limbs, and others paralyzed and unable to receive treatment.' Anderson explained that his colleagues "from the humanitarian community are doing everything they can to increase medical capacity in the sector." "The obstacles to humanitarian operations prevent us from supporting the people of the Strip anywhere near the necessary location," he added. Source: Maan News Agency
