Oslo: Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini emphasized Wednesday in Oslo that the agency will continue to provide aid to people in the Palestinian territories despite the Israeli ban due to be implemented by the end of January.
According to Qatar News Agency, Lazzarini stated during an international meeting dedicated to the Middle East that UNRWA's local staff will remain on the ground and continue providing emergency assistance, as well as education and primary health care where possible.
The Israeli Knesset approved the ban on UNRWA activities in the occupied Palestinian territories on October 28, 2024, with the decision set to take effect at the end of January. Despite this impending ban, UNRWA has resolved to continue its efforts to support Palestinians in need.
