UNRWA Warns of Worsening Suffering of Children in Gaza Due to Ongoing Blockade

Doha: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned of the worsening suffering of children in Gaza as a result of the Israeli occupation's continued closure of the Strip's crossings to the entry of aid and commercial supplies for the sixth week.

According to Qatar News Agency, UNRWA added in a statement via the X platform: "In northern Gaza, children are not looking for their toys or pens, but for water. They are not going to school, but pushing carts in search of something to quench their thirst." It explained that Israel's imposition of the blockade and the cessation of the entry of aid and commercial supplies into Gaza have led to an increased scarcity of clean water, food, shelter, and medical care, calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Strip.

On March 18, the Israeli entity resumed its aggression on the Gaza Strip, following a two-month hiatus under a ceasefire agreement that went into effect on January 19. However, the occupation violated the terms of the ceasefire throughout the two months, continuing its bombardment of various areas in the Gaza Strip, causing casualties and injuries.

It refused to implement the humanitarian protocol, and tightened its stifling blockade on the Strip, which is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy.
