US Approves Deal to Sell Advanced Air-to-Air Missiles to Finland

Washington: The US Department of State has approved a $1.07 billion sale of advanced air-to-air missiles and related equipment to Finland.

According to Qatar News Agency, the sale aims to "support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a NATO ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe." The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) stated that the proposed sale will enhance Finland's ability to address current and future threats while improving interoperability with US and allied forces.

The deal includes AIM-120D-3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles and related equipment, with an estimated total cost of $1.07 billion.

The DSCA also mentioned that the US Congress has been notified of the agreement, following the standard procedures for foreign arms sales.
