Doha: US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping discussed, during a phone call today, the need for further talks between the two countries to resolve their differences over tariffs. Trump wrote on social media that respective teams will meet soon at a location to be determined, adding that he and his Chinese counterpart had exchanged invitations to visit each other's countries later. According to Qatar News Agency, the Chinese president said that his phone conversation with Trump was aimed at correcting the Sino-US relations, adding that it is imperative for both sides to work toward the right direction and eliminate all forms of disruption that could amount to sabotage, which is particularly important. Xinhua News Agency quoted the Chinese president as saying that both sides should make full use of the existing economic and trade consultation mechanism, treat each other equally, respect each other's concerns, and strive to achieve win-win outcomes. He stressed that China's handling of the issue is based on sincerity and principles.
