Caracas: US President's special envoy, Richard Grenell, announced the release of six Americans detained in Venezuela, who returned to the United States on Saturday following an extraordinary meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Caracas.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, Maduro and the US envoy discussed issues related to immigration, economic sanctions imposed on Venezuela, and crimes involving US citizens on Venezuelan soil, as stated in an official statement from the Caracas government.
In a subsequent statement, President Maduro emphasized the importance of opening a new chapter in relations between Washington and Caracas, provided that necessary corrections are made and required actions are completed.
For his part, US President Donald Trump praised the move to release the six American citizens, highlighting it as a positive step in bilateral relations.
