Muscat: US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkopf announced Thursday that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to exchange 314 prisoners. Witkopf said in a post on his X page that delegations from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia agreed, following trilateral talks, to exchange 314 prisoners. He noted that this is the first such exchange in five months, achieved through detailed and productive peace talks.
According to Qatar News Agency, Witkopf explained that much work remains to be done to end the war between the two countries, but he considered this agreement one of the proofs of how diplomatic channels contribute to achieving tangible results that advance efforts to end the war.
Russia and Ukraine have previously exchanged a number of their prisoners following rounds of talks held in Istanbul, Turkey.
