New York: A US administration official announced that the US President's envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will brief members of the UN Security Council on Thursday regarding developments in the Gaza Strip and other regional issues.
According to Qatar News Agency, US media outlets quoted the anonymous official as stating that the briefing will take place at the US mission to the UN, with the participation of the 15 member states of the Security Council. Witkoff's testimony is expected to cover US policy toward the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the progress of nuclear talks with Iran, the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and the new aid mechanism proposed by Washington in collaboration with the Israeli entity.
This initiative follows criticism of the Israeli entity's plan to manage the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza. The plan, which involves using private companies to deliver supplies, has faced opposition from international parties, including European leaders and aid organizations, especially after two months of blocked aid to the Strip.
