New York: Major US stock indexes on Wall Street closed higher at the close of trading today.

According to Qatar News Agency, the S and P 500 index closed up 23.53 points, or 0.40 percent, at 5,912.08. The Nasdaq Composite index rose 74.77 points, or 0.39 percent, to close at 19,175.87. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 118.97 points, or 0.28 percent, to close at 42,217.67.
