According to Qatar News Agency, the S and P and Nasdaq were buoyed by artificial intelligence deals involving Amazon and Nvidia, while healthcare giants such as UnitedHealth Group and Merck weighed on the Dow. Uncertainty surrounding US factory activity and the government shutdown added to market volatility, clouding expectations for the Federal Reserve's next policy move.
