US Strike on Suspected Drug-Trafficking Boat in Pacific Kills Two

Muscat: The US military said that it carried out another strike on a vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, killing two people, as part of an ongoing campaign targeting alleged narcotics smuggling routes.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement on the social media platform X, US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said intelligence confirmed that the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes and was engaged in illicit operations. The command added that no US forces were harmed in the operation.

The latest attack brings the reported death toll from the Trump administration military strikes on suspected drug-trafficking vessels to at least 128 people since the campaign began in September 2025. The operations have expanded from the Caribbean Sea into the eastern Pacific, with the Pentagon describing the effort as part of a broader mission to disrupt maritime smuggling.
