Moscow, Venezuelan Ambassador to Russia, Jesús Rafael Salazar Velásquez, expressed his country's support for any peace plan in Ukraine approved by Moscow. 'If any country proposes a plan on the conflict in Ukraine, Venezuela will stand by Russia and will support and approve any peace plan in which it participates,' Russia Today quoted Salazar Velasquez as saying in a statement to the Russian newspaper Izvestia published today. The Venezuelan ambassador's statement came in response to the peace initiative for Ukraine recently presented by Brazil and China. Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced Russia's conditions for peace with Ukraine, which are the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, in addition to abandoning its efforts to join NATO, and lifting sanctions on Russia.
