Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has outlined its priorities in supporting the Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Manufacturing Strategy during a panel discussion on the Digital Transformation Ecosystem in the State of Qatar for the Manufacturing Sector, as part of Web Summit Qatar 2026.
According to Qatar News Agency, Assistant Undersecretary for Industry and Business Development, Saleh Majed Al Khulaifi, represented MOCI at the panel, with the participation of representatives from Qatar Development Bank, the Fourth Industrial Revolution Center of the Ministry of Finance, alongside other companies.
A statement by MOCI highlighted that Al Khulaifi, during his participation, outlined the priorities of the Ministry in supporting the digital transformation of the industrial sector, as part of implementing the Third National Development Strategy and Qatar's National Strategy for the Manufacturing Industry.
Al Khulaifi emphasized focusing on enhancing the digital readiness of factories and promoting the adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, contributing to improved operational efficiency, increased productivity, and strengthened competitiveness of the industrial sector.
He clarified that the ministry significantly prioritizes supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, noting that enterprises that pursue digital transformation solutions achieve, on average, a 20-30% increase in productivity, a 20-30% improvement in turnaround time, a 40-60% acceleration in time-to-market, and potential cost reductions of 10-20%.
The Ministry works to enable these enterprises through upgrading regulatory frameworks and launching supportive programs and initiatives, in addition to having incentive systems in place to encourage investment in advanced digital solutions, Al Khulaifi clarified.
He elaborated that the Ministry supports industrial assessment and diagnostic programs, foremost among them the Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI), to enhance factories' readiness for transformation toward smart industry.
Al Khulaifi further noted that what matters most is strengthening the combined efforts between government agencies and the public and private sectors' enterprises to build an integrated industrial system that backs innovation and advanced technology, as well as promotes Qatar's position as a regional hub for smart industries.
