Doha: The Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, successfully concluded the FameLab Academy 2024/25 season. Three winners were announced, recognised for their outstanding presentations at the FameLab finals, which took place during the National Scientific Research and Innovation Exhibition.

According to Qatar News Agency, FameLab, launched at the Cheltenham Science Festival in the UK, has become the world's leading science communication competition. In Qatar, FameLab Academy reflects the nation's commitment to promoting science through creative and accessible communication. Organised in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the QRDI Council, the program is now in its eighth year and second cycle under a new format. It has trained 4,000 students, with 6 representing Qatar internationally, earning 2 silver medals, and 24 winning top three positions locally.

The event brought together scientists, researchers, and innovators to showcase groundbreaking research across a variety of disciplines. The three winners were announced as Almaha Abdulla Al Kuwari of Aishah Bent Abi Bakr Secondary School for Girls, who claimed first place; Unica Raija A. De Vera from the Philippine School Doha, awarded second place; and Ali Hamad Al Hamadi representing Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys, who took third place.

By increasing participation in science and research and fostering a culture that values the positive impact science has on both economic and social growth, the competition opens doors to new opportunities, helping to build a generation of confident researchers ready to shape a future that recognises the important role of science in driving progress. In doing so, FameLab Academy directly contributes to Qatar National Vision 2030, strengthening the foundation for a thriving, innovation-driven society.
