Doha: The Ministry of Sports and Youth held a ceremony today to celebrate the winners of the 2024-2025 Sports and Youth Excellence Award, under the theme "Excellence of Generations, Excellence of the Nation." The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar Foundation, the Qatar Olympic Committee, Aspire Zone Foundation, along with delegates from sports clubs, youth centers, and leading institutions in the fields of sports and youth development.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Sports and Youth, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, presented the awards to this year's winners. In the sports category, Al Sadd Club claimed first place, followed by Al Arabi Club in second, and Al Rayyan Club in third. In the youth category, the Qatar Scientific Club was awarded first place, while Qatar Youth Hostels took second, and the Doha Girls Center came in third. In the youth apparatuses category, Al Khor Club secured first place, followed by Al Wakrah Club in second, and Al Sailiya Club in third.
In his remarks, HE the Minister emphasized that the Sports and Youth Excellence Award is more than a recognition, it is a practical embodiment of the Ministry's vision to build a comprehensive ecosystem of excellence rooted in professionalism, innovation, and youth empowerment. He highlighted the Ministry's firm belief that investing in people is the cornerstone of sustainable development and that both sports and youth engagement are essential pillars in achieving Qatar National Vision 2030. He reiterated the Ministry's ongoing commitment to supporting every initiative that contributes to the development of the sports and youth sectors and to providing an environment that enables future generations to shine, innovate, and build a nation that reflects their aspirations.
His Excellency added that today's celebration honors sincere efforts and achievements by institutions that have proven their ability to make an impact in the fields of sports and youth work. He noted that the award serves as a catalyst for continued excellence, promotes a culture of institutional distinction, enhances the role of general assemblies, and empowers youth to participate actively in decision-making and shaping the future.
Also speaking at the event, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Issa Al Harami stated that the Sports and Youth Excellence Award crowns the efforts of sports clubs that have made accomplishments, impacting the performance of national teams through their cooperation with sports federations across various disciplines. Al Harami congratulated Al Sadd Club for receiving the Sports Excellence Award, as well as Al Arabi and Al Rayyan Clubs for securing second and third places, respectively. He noted that the award aligns with the Ministry's strategy and mandate to elevate sports standards in the country and to empower Qatari youth to pursue professional and creative careers in sports.
He concluded by affirming that the award will contribute to strengthening the role of general assemblies and enabling Qatari youth to shoulder their responsibilities in achieving outcomes at local, regional, continental, and global levels.
