Doha: The Zakat Affairs Department at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has announced the launch of a new service offering free year-round Zakat calculation for both individuals and enterprises. This initiative aims to help Zakat payers determine the precise amount of Zakat owed, in accordance with Islamic Sharia and recognized accounting principles.

According to Qatar News Agency, Ahmed Jaber Al Jarbouei, the Head of Zakat Services Section, emphasized the department's dedication to facilitating the fulfillment of Zakat obligations for company owners. This effort is part of the Awqaf's mission to serve the community and achieve the objectives of Zakat in promoting social unity and compassion among members of society.

Al Jarbouei noted that the section is staffed with knowledgeable Sharia specialists and qualified accountants who provide precise guidance in Zakat calculation. This assistance is available through various means, including field visits and digital channels, and is offered in a confidential manner to protect the financial privacy of Zakat payers.

He further mentioned that over the past period, the service has been extended to more than 150 companies nationwide. The team responsible for field visits actively engages with these companies and their financial departments. Official communications from the Zakat department have been sent to these companies, detailing the Zakat amounts due after careful evaluation of their financial data.

Al Jarbouei highlighted that these initiatives are part of the department's strategy to raise awareness about the importance of timely Zakat payments. The service is accessible to all, either through visits to the department's offices or via online consultation with specialists, ensuring that individuals and enterprises receive the necessary Sharia support to correctly fulfill this Islamic obligation.
