Turkish authorities arrested 16 illegal immigrants during an operation in the state of Tekirdag, northwest of the country. According to Turkish Anadolu Agency, the Gendarmerie Command in Tekirdag carried out an operation after receiving information indicating the presence of illegal immigrants in the state. The inspection operation resulted in the arrest of 12 illegal immigrants. Teams affiliated with the command also seized four immigrants on board a car that was transporting them, as they were all transferred to the state's immigration department to complete their legal procedures. Turkiye's borders with Bulgaria and Greece are witnessing an increase in the number of illegal immigrants taking the land or sea route in the hope of reaching a European country.
