Port Moresby, An earthquake measuring 4.9 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Papua New Guinea on Tuesday. The epicenter of the earthquake occurred 84 km from the city of Lae, at a depth of 103.3 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake. A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck New Britain region in Papua New Guinea on April 15. Papua New Guinea is located in the so-called Ring of Fire, a region that extends along the coast of the Pacific Ocean and is characterized by high seismic and volcanic activity.
