Doha: The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) on Tuesday named the winners of the 5th Doha International Award for Interfaith Dialogue. HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater and HE Chairman of the Board of Directors of the DICID, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi honored the awardees during the inaugural ceremony of the 15th Doha Conference on Interfaith Dialogue. The Award is granted to the active religious institutions and individuals in supporting underprivileged families. For the individuals category, the Award was claimed by General Director of the Jordan-based Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training, Dr. Aghadeer Jweihan, and Professor Mads Gilbert, a physician and humanitarian activist in war zones and conflicts, especially in the Gaza Strip. The Japan Islamic Trust and the Chinese friendship organization for sustainable development were the winners in the institutions category. The Award Committee dedicated a special steadfast Palestinian family in Gaza award, which was received by CEO of Qatar Charity, Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, to be delivered as part of the aid provided to Palestinian families. During the Award Ceremony, The Palestinian child, Ramadan Mahmoud Abu Jazar, from the Gaza Strip, gave a speech on the tragedies suffered by Palestinian families and the Gaza Strip population due to the Israeli aggression and the occupations confiscation of the rights of Palestinian families and children to live in dignity, pointing out that 15,000 children were deprived of their dreams because of this brutal war. The Doha International Award for Interfaith Dialogue was launched in 2013, with the aim of supporting and encouraging the efforts of initiatives and achievements of people and institutions that have a prominent impact in promoting the principle of dialogue and consolidating a culture of peace.
