Earthna Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), has announced the organizing of the 9th edition of Qatar Sustainability Week in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, from Sep. 28 to Oct. 5. Qatar Sustainability Week is the largest community campaign held annually in the State of Qatar to promote environmental sustainability, as its activities continue for a full week, and witness hundreds of activities organized by various entities from the government and private sectors and civil society institutions throughout the State. In this context, HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie underlined the importance of Qatar Sustainability Week, as it contributes to a leading role in achieving the State of Qatar's goals related to sustainability, by enhancing cooperation between various government and private sectors, supporting the state's efforts to enhance environmental awareness amon g members of society, and encouraging them to take effective steps to preserve the environment. His Excellency expressed the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change's aspiration to cooperate with Earthna Center and all partners from the public and private sectors to achieve the goals of Qatar Sustainability Week this year. For his part, Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata, Executive Director of Earthna Center, stressed the center's commitment to continuing efforts aimed at promoting sustainability, pointing to the tremendous impact of local initiatives in protecting the environment, especially Qatar Sustainability Week, which features many and varied environmental activities organized across the State. He said that through Qatar Sustainability Week 2024, we aim to make a tangible positive difference and enhance the community culture of the need to preserve the environment as a shared responsibility among all. He added that last year's edition recorded the largest participation rate in the history of the campa ign, as it witnessed the organization of more than 470 events and the participation of approximately 200,000 individuals, and we hope that the next edition will continue this success and achieve positive change that benefits society and future generations. This years edition is packed with activities and workshops, and will see the launch of the fourth edition of the Qatar National Dialogue on Climate Change, which will be held on Oct. 1 and 2, with the aim of promoting collective climate action in the State of Qatar and developing a shared vision on how to address climate change. Qatar Sustainability Week receives extensive support from strategic partners every year, through their organization and sponsorship of hundreds of activities and events, believing in the importance of these events in achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
