Ottawa, Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahraini Ambassador to Canada, residing in Washington, met with Alexandre Lévêque, the Canadian Assistant Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe, Arctic and Middle East Affairs. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and discussed the results of the political consultations between Bahrain and Canada held recently in Manama, as well as regional and international issues of common concern. The ambassador reviewed the outcomes of the 33rd Arab Summit, chaired by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, where the kingdom presented several humanitarian initiatives. These initiatives included the convening of an international peace conference, the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the recognition and admission of Palestine as a UN member. Additionally, Bahrain highlighted its commitment to providing education and health services to those affected by conflicts in the region, as well as promoting Arab cooperation in the field o f financial technology and digital transformation. For his part, Lévêque praised the success of the political consultations held in Manama between Bahrain and Canada, congratulating the ambassador on the first anniversary of the establishment of the Canada-Bahrain Friendship Group. He also lauded the cooperation relations between the two countries and the role of the kingdom in consolidating the values of coexistence and peace in the region.
