Manama, Bahrain will host the first edition of the Arab Paralympic Badminton Championship and the Bahrain Para Badminton International 2024 tournament next month, Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, chairman of Bahrain Paralympic Committee announced. The Arab Paralympic Badminton Championship will be held on May 16-19 and the Bahrain Para Badminton International on May 20-26. Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa emphasised that hosting the tournaments is supported by the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and in line with the policies and objectives of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and the General Sports Authority (GSA), led by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the GSA, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC). Shaikh Mohammed said the tournaments will contribute to promoting the culture of spo rts for people with determination and their integration into society. He added that the championship contributes to encouraging parents to engage their children in sports. Bahrain is expected to receive Para badminton champions from around the world, especially as this upcoming tournament is an important pre-event ahead of the Summer Paralympic Games in Paris.
