Paris, The Bahrain national athletics team will start competing in the Paris Olympics tomorrow. The national team will begin its participation with athlete Nelly Jepkosgei, who will compete in the first round of the women's 800-metre race at 8:45 am Bahrain time. Meanwhile, Birhanu Balew will compete in the final of the men's 10,000-metre race, scheduled for 10:20 pm Bahrain time. Nelly's personal best in the 800-meter race is 1:58.93 minutes, while Birhanu's best time in the 10,000-meter race is 27:07.49 minutes, ranking him 33rd globally. Athletics is the only sport in which Bahrain has achieved four Olympic medals. Maryam Jamal won gold in the 1500-metre race at the London 2012 Olympics. Ruth Jebet won gold in the 3000-metre steeplechase, Eunice Kirwa won silver in the marathon at the Rio 2016 Olympics, and Kalkidan Gezahegne earned silver in the 10,000-metre race at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
