Ramallah - Ma'an - The national leader and one of the historical leaders who founded the Palestinian revolution and the Fatah movement, Farouk Rafiq Asaad Al-Qaddoumi "Abu Al-Lutf", passed away in Amman today, Thursday. President Al-Qaddoumi mourned him, saying, 'As I mourn a brother, a friend, and a companion on a long and arduous path of struggle and tireless work, Palestine has lost one of its loyal, faithful, struggling men who gave a lot to serve Palestine, its cause, and its people.' The great fighter "Abu Al-Lutf" was born in the village of Jinsafut in the Qalqilya Governorate in 1931. He studied primary school at Jinsafut and Al-Manshiya schools in the city of Jaffa, and secondary school at Al-Amiriya School in the city of Jaffa. He obtained a bachelor's degree in economics from the American University in Cairo in 1958. Al-Qaddoumi became involved in politics early in his life. He met Yasser Arafat and Salah Khalaf while studying in Egypt. He participated in the founding of the Fatah movement along side the late President Yasser Arafat, Khalil Al-Wazir, President Mahmoud Abbas, and Salah Khalaf. He was one of the writers for its magazine 'Our Palestine,' a member of its Central Committee since 1965, its representative in Cairo, and its foreign relations officer. He served as Secretary of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement. Al-Qaddoumi became a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1969, a member of the National Council, and head of the Political Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1973, the representative of Palestine in the Arab League, and the official of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1989. He contributed to developing the organization's relations with the Arab countries, the Soviet Union, and many other countries of the world. Source: Maan News Agency
