Eight migrants have died while trying to cross the English Channel from France to England. A French emergency services source said the accident occurred shortly after the boat embarked. French maritime authorities reported yesterday that migrants have been making dangerous crossing of the English Channel in small boats in recent days, noting that 200 people were rescued in 24 hours on Friday and Saturday alone.
