Manama, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, participated in the opening session of the second edition of Fintech Forward 2024 (FF24). The forum, attended by senior executives, focused on exploring opportunities and challenges in the financial technology sector, highlighting Bahrain's commitment to fostering innovation in this field, which serves as a key growth driver. The minister said that Bahrain's financial sector continues to grow steadily, driven by the expertise and talent of its workforce, positioning it as a key player in this vital industry. He emphasised Bahrain's focus on further developing digital infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and human capital, which collectively support the advancement of financial technology projects. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa underscored that Bahrain continues its efforts to create a conducive environment for fintech initiatives, highlighting the establishment of the Central Bank of Bahrain's Financial Technology and In novation Unit and the introduction of the Regulatory Sandbox Framework in 2017 to facilitate fintech innovation. He also noted that Bahrain's support for startups has contributed to their regional expansion and success. The minister pointed to the importance of the forum in promoting knowledge exchange in the rapidly growing fintech sector, which plays a significant role in the economy and offers valuable opportunities for Bahrain's citizens.
